Why kill pounds kill... They have to accept all animals as contracted to do so. This being said is the why! Many are too far gone to be saved sadly! Are: owner surrenders. Owners requests they be killed! Are very ill,injured terribly,very old,viscious. Don't have facilities to train to degree needed to reverse if guard dog or fight dog for instance for years! If easy going,healthy,young,cute and not out of time,can be adopted easier. If overcrowded which many are now,after 3 days start killing. Is not Euthanasia as that is reserved for beyond hope cases, call it by its proper name...this is murder! If ok with you ignore my post,eat a sand wich and move on...Many can rationalize anything in the name of mercy. I can not. Out of room!? Build another space. Abused, neglected traumatized untrained unsocialized unhousebroken reactive!???? Train! Use prisoners in prisons program. Train free. Clean cages as work program! Do everything can before kill!  state,towns,cities,counties. They call themselves shelters. Shelters implies a protection from the storms of life. If killing healthy,if sick,treatable

 easily,young beautiful,friendly,nice animals due to space,been there a while and stressed in cage with barking dogs constantly,offer no training for,take in all 

animals even without rehoming fee from person with 3,good job,don't help those who want to keep but can't afford pets due to inflation,have to move as

 income less,etc.,don't offer pet friendly housing,help by talking to landlord so can keep pet in no pet buildings,not doing job! Many if have challenges

 could get Dr. note and say emotional assistance animal. Landlord has to accept even if a pit bull not on their insurance policy! Shelters have lawyers.

If cared to, could consult to keep families who love and care for pets together even if low income! What is better? Killing a pup at 3 months for

 space or offering low cost spay,neuter,shots,free pet food to poor person who loves pet with a spinal injury and chronic pain,etc. who has had

 several pets and provides for. Despite,feeds,waters,shelters but when 10-16 when gets older and ill and can't afford care beyond basic,has

 euthanized as suffering or body gave out, shut down at shelter cheaply?!? Some here say if can't afford,shouldn't have pet. I can say,my pets and dog had

 that passed 2 summers ago at almost 16,was always cared for and very loved. Towards end,I could not afford to spend thousands of dollars to maybe save her.

 My vet didn't want her operated on either! I think she had a great life. I got her training from experienced trainer by kennel owner, so a good canine citizen. 

 I also got Dr. note saying my assistance animal. Because did this,despite the actions of landlords,neighbors due to breed and scared of her though

 nice,friendly,they could not evict her or me!! I am not saying abuse the privilege like some do having pot bellied pigs,ostriches as service animals and

 demand to get on planes,alienating, disregarding needs of others. What am saying,if dog trained,handled,one has every right to have any breed wants

regardless of the fears,desires of others. I think if more people did this,or start doing this with challenges,they could save dog,s have and ones in kill

 shelters! Shelter directors,CEO's,(making $400,000/year while staff is getting minimum wage,doing for pets,needs to take a pay cut to match

 the times and fact are non profit) managers,etc. need to move beyond their egos,biz as usual and remain open to new ideas,especially the ones

 that can save the lives of dogs put on kill lists as suffering as not exercised,helped calm and redirect with training. Free training available from

 pits for prisoners in prisons across the USA. to death row dogs only! Trainer there picks out 12-15 dogs willing to work with. He oversees prisoners who

Animal Shelter Dogs -Instead of the needle of death and thrown in the trash...large bag like garbage,their dignity is restored. They

 are given a life of purpose where are cherished. I believe program would change the minds of many afraid of pit bulls and other dogs with strong jaws

 like rottweilers due to the irresponsible actions of a few owners not training,handling dogs have with no regard for others. All getting dogs from

 shelters should know who are getting as some return in 2!days after pit bites new owner through glove when grabbed something near where dog eating. Most

 dogs coming into shelter even before thrown in cage where can barely move,are traumatized either from owners or from being out in street. 

Some throw rocks,shoot at,are starving,freezing,hit by cars,are attacked,raped, impregnated by other dogs. 

On east coast in upstate NY,Albany area where I am at,is freezing. Very windy,wind chill making it -2 degrees now at 7:36 pm,sun down. If see pet

Regardless, ACC NYC, mustlovedogs,contacts,some rescues...unfairly block some people from fostering,adopting dead dogs

 walking and kill not euthanize...as are healthy,young,not very sick and old beyond hope. Are murdering these dogs and cats daily. Lie about the numbers

 too in their town Halls. Claim kill rate is 7% because that sounds better than 70% for cats and 55% for dogs. Kill atleast 10 dogs and cats daily that are

 owner surrenders,if very ill,injured, biters. Don't even report these poor unfortunates! If staff, volunteers speak out against this death camp...they are

 fired,terminated. CEO Weinstock gives herself 400 K a year! Average CEO makes 200K. ASPCA CEO gets 850 K a year. I find these salaries obscene and

 very self serving with the dire state of these animals. I feel they should step down or take a pay cut and use $ for alternate space to house dogs. Open

 dog refuges with vacant fed buildings in s. BX. and rehab. Ignore prison and disabled programs that train abused dogs,not adopted,free so are

 adopted...Make these dogs service and assistance animals for disabled. Save man and beast! Don't THINK outside the box but are stuck in antiquated pound

 not shelter mentality of old. Have 35 year contract with city where are paid alot of tax payer dollars to sell dog and cat corpses to vet schools,let students

 fix pets only to kill after when not adopted that normally would not get operated on...get $ for dead pets for tainted pet food that makes pets ill. All

 for greed and profit. Get their $$ so don't have any incentive to help these unwanted dogs and cats. Weekly free spay neuter clinics 4 poor people's pets 

 nationally instead of unwanted pets reproducing, being murdered in these hell holes, would help. If have had enough,share,comment on post,email

This is nuts. They need to stop killing and taking in anymore animals. Try to get homes for ones have! How!? Contact different rescues for each

breed,category: seniors,special needs,mamma's with pups,pups,ones needing training prison programs with prisoners helping train damaged

mentally,emotionally dogs due to abuse,neglect..Others can be adopted by people with emotional issues like depression,PTSD to be their assistance

animals as lonely and no friends as people don't get those with these issues,senior citizens can be
matched with senior dogs as lonely too.

Senior centers and their directors can be reached out to and seniors matched with. Whose left public can come adopt healthy,nice,pretty or cute dogs 1-5

years old.  Animals Are Angels

Atleast I am offering suggestions how to triage whose in these kill shelters. Mandatory TNR for feral stray cats so stop reproducing,killing birds needs to

be enforced. Also after adopting in 4 months kitties,pups need to be altered low cost with friends of animals certificates for cats,$25 each or dogs

$100 each. If can't afford,use grant money. Government also needs to stop private breeding unless pros. In NY we have outlawed puppy mills. They are

overcrowded,filthy where mamma's are made to pump out pup after pup for money,profit greed at expense of animal. Pups are sick too as places are

filthy, animals sitting in pee,feces,breathing in putrid air with dirty water,underfed in cages all day. They were sold to pet stores who sold

to public as pedigrees to unknowing public. After paid ex. $200 got a sick animal. Has been going on for years especially in Pennsylvania Amish

country. They live off grid in their own way in world but not of it with horse and buggies,separate from modern society. Hard to enforce our laws there however

we can stop anyone from buying pups from them! It is argued that some will still get pups illegally on net but not in such great numbers. These methods

are ways to deal with the problem at hand and stop the yearly slaughter of 1 million dogs,cats in the US every year!! Otherwise we are taking rolled up wads

of wet toilet paper and throwing them at the air as not sticking to ceiling. With no new plans and business as usual,nothing will change. 'Nothing

changes if nothing changes'. One person will have a hard time doing anything about how handle stray dogs cats,etc. but many pet lovers who care

due to how many isn't. Nature is fighting back. It,we are killing our planet,taping the land,wiping out species daily to never return. Kyoto

agreement was a step toward turning things around. Democrats for Republicans not. All these offering parties. Republicans for

corporations,employed people. Democrats have social programs for those who don't due to disability,age. We as a nation are grossly in debt. This needs to change. Money can only be put into programs that are working and not oppressing,repressing,depressing the people supposed to help.

Is easy for those who have been taught how by parents. Others without supportive family causing mental, emotionally,behavioral

problems,addictions to cope,didn't. No excuse but why taking longer to do what others with family,friends do easily. Poor socialization when young causes

trauma and if not dealt with continues into adulthood. People avoid social interactions,are lonely,sad,feel rejected,unloved, isolated,don't work as

can only do specific work. If lucky can see the patterns and with higher power, God can help selves to make some life for selves. Maybe with a pet! Pets love

NYC shelters,stop killing!

Dogs,cats,pups,kittens by dosing with Trazadone 2x. Are finding  animals dead in cages after and keep doing it!! Healthy,you ng,nice animals stressed being

 there is why given. Stressed as caged,not walked,sitting in filth,away from homes,people new,scared,not fed,watered properly,sitting on cold steel floors in low

 heat areas. CEO of shelters make nice $. Staff overworked, underpaid to burnt out. Kennel cough, respiratory infections run rampant. Most animals should never even

 be there!! Give elder dogs to seniors free. Go to senior centers. Speak to directors. Many lonely people would love dog, cat for company!

When animal lost,found should not go to kill shelter but a holding area. Hold a week and then place no 3 days and then may kill.

Is horrid. The killing needs to stop. All

 pups,kitties,mamma's should go to rescues,1-5 year olds,healthy,nice should go there too. Pets with medical conditions can go to special needs shelters. Kill shelters last resort!!

Probably bit him out of fear as guy yelled at him as couldn't control himself and his emotions. Looked like a big scarey dude from photo in paper. how disgusting. how do these morons get these dogs and yet it is so hard to rescue a dog from a shelter, or a cat without getting the third degree? He bought from someone knew or a pet store is why and no screening needed. this needs to stop as is too easy to get an animal just as is easy to buy a gun on the street illegally. Both fall into the wrong hands of nuts.

"All creatures great and small,God made them all!" -the Bible so far it is beverly hills, California and now Phoenix ArizonA. bY DOING THIS THEY ARE LITERALLY STOPPING THE DEMAND FOR CUTE CUDDLY PUPPIES AND KITTIES SNATCHED FROM PUPPY MILLS. bY TAKING AWAY DEMAND FOR THESE ANIMALS IT IS HOPED THAT THE TORTURE OF THESE POOR DOGS THAT ARE LEFT IN CAGES TO REPRODUCE ON TOP OF EACH OTHER IN FILTH OF FECES AND URINE DAY IN AND OUT WILL STOP. mANY OF THESE ANIMALS COME FROM THE aMISH WHO TREAT THEM LIKE CATTLE, FARM ANIMALS. tHEY ARE SHOWN NO WARMTH OR HUMAN KINDNESS BUT ARE OBJECTS USWED FOR PROFIT ONLY. iT IS ABOUT TIME THAT WE STOP THE SENSELESS SLAUGHTER OF ANIMALS IN SHELTERS YEARLY. bY SPAYING AND NEUTERING AND TAKING ANIMALS IN SHELTERS OUT OF THEM, LIVES WILL BE SAVED. lOVE HAS NO PEDIGREE. yOU DONN'T NEED TO BE IN FASHION AND ACCEPTED BY OWNING AN EXPENSIVE DOG.
